Not to knock Andrew Garfield, who did a pretty decent job hosting his first ever episode of Saturday Night Live, but maybe it was a mistake to let his girlfriend and Spider-Man co-star, Emma Stone, crash the party. Stone, who has hosted Saturday Night Live in the past, popped up in a few cameos and winsomely stole the spotlight away from Garfield. Here she is bringing life and manic energy to his opening monologue.
The other Stone cameo worth noting is her appearance in this
Spider-Man Kiss sketch where Garfield and Stone, a couple in real life,
pretend they don’t know how to smooch. The “chin bite” is a good move, but
my personal favorite is the “shared air.” Stick around for a pretty decent
Chris Martin cameo. Is that a Gwyneth wig?
Fortunately for Garfield, Stone was nowhere to be seen in the best sketch of the night, a Beyoncé-themed horror film parody called The Beygency. Don’t mess with the Queen B.
Finally, Garfield wasn't the only new kid on the block last night. Brand new Saturday Night Live writer, Leslie Jones, made her Weekend Update debut. And it was fabulous. Find out what advantage she has over Lupita Nyong'o.
