Samuel L. Jackson had the perfect answer to this ignorant mistake
Acting legend Samuel L. Jackson appeared on KTLA to chat about his work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But host Sam Ruben proceeded to ask Jackson about his Super Bowl commercial, mistaking him for Laurence Fishburne even though the actors looked nothing alike. "I'm not Laurence Fishburne!" Jackson protested, adding, "We don't all look alike." The "Captain America" star took the mistake with good humor, smoothing over a potentially explosive and troublesome moment as he taunted Ruben.
Ruben apologized for the mistake, claiming that he did not
confuse Jackson with Fishburne, but was referring to a "Captain America"
ad that aired during the Super Bowl. "But I immediately felt so dumb, I
didn't bring that up, and he gave me the beating that was well deserved,"
Ruben said, via KTLA, adding, "I'm really embarrassed about it, and I'm very
apologetic." to Samuel L. Jackson and anyone else who was offended by what
was a very buff mistake."
On Twitter, Jackson joked about the incident, wearing a T-shirt
that read "I'm not Laurence Fishburne." During an appearance on the Graham
Norton Show, he explained his rationale for wearing the jersey. "Fish and I
have been going through this for, like you said, a long time," he explained.
"He and I were together when people came up to him and started talking to
him about 'Pulp Fiction'. … In the end, you know, I would, I would sign my
name!
