When I think of period drama queens, one of the first names that comes to mind is Keira Knightley. From her earliest days on film to some of her most recent efforts, Knightley has consistently proven that she is the best actress when it comes to catchy period pieces that scream emotion and are sure to bring tears to your eyes.
However, Knightley is known for more than just her menstrual periods, as she is fantasy film, funny teen movies and many more that have become classics over the decades of her career. Here are some of the best Keira Knightley movies you can stream or rent right now, and some you can buy.
Thief Daughter (2001)
While Keira Knightley had made a few minor appearances in movies prior to this one, Thief Princess really was one of the breakout roles of hers. This hilarious TV movie tells the untold story of another version of Robin Hood – her daughter. But when her father is captured by a forceful ruler of the kingdom, he takes it upon himself, with the help of others, to bring back the rightful ruler, as well as get her father back.
I always see Thief Princess as a kind of training for the big role of Keira in Pirates of the Caribbean (which we will talk about later). What I really like about this is that it shows that even when he was younger Knightley was terrible at acting, giving great scenes and some really funny fight sequences that reminded me of the old Robin Hood movies, which made playing it even more fun. .observed
Bend Like Beckham (2002)
Another breakout role for Keira Knightley, Bend Like Beckham is fun teen comedy with romance and sports. In this movie, a young Indian girl grows up with strict parents, and even though she is an adult, they still don't let her live her own life and do what she loves most: play soccer. Soon, an ally shows up and convinces him to join the semi-pro team after seeing how good he is at the game, while she keeps it a secret from his family.
