The Terrible Relationship of Stallone and Schwarzenegger that is known Two Decades Later
Insults, deceptions, taunts, revenge and a battle of muscle make up the trajectory of the two most successful action actors in the United States.
The rivalry between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester
Stallone could lead to a saga if any Hollywood screenwriter investigated a
bit. Only the surface of the story is known and there is material for
several films: taunts, deceit, envy and a happy ending between two of the
strongest actors of all time, make up a battle that came to light thanks to
an article in Vulture that social networks have been responsible for
bringing to the present, even conducting surveys to see which one had the
most votes.
Both met in 1977 at a time when they were not yet on the same
film ladder. Stallone was already Rocky and had burst the box office in the
United States, while the figure of Schwarzenegger had not yet exploded.
Precisely when it was a success with Conan the Barbarian he began to leave
the first messages against Stallone, accusing him of using doubles in his
action scenes, so comparing the two of them is something that really annoyed
him.
Since then, taunts were common in the films in which they
starred, something difficult to perceive but that the followers have taken
it upon themselves to uncover and bring to our time. Thus, the fearsome
Russian that Stallone faces in Rocky IV is compared to Arnold, both because
of his gigantic appearance and because of the way he talks.
However, the first blow of authority in this particular war was
struck by Schwarzenegger, after putting discord to forge the romance between
Sylvester Stallone and Brigitte Nielsen. According to specialized American
media, the governor of California used the actor to keep Nielsen away and be
able to continue his happy married life with Maria Shriver.
The following years were a kind of Cold War, with some hits in
the press, the occasional leak to foment hatred towards his rival and
several struggles to get the best roles. It seemed that very hard years were
ending that Schwarzenegger defined as follows: "We were attacking each other
in the media nonstop. It became something so absurd that suddenly we were
arguing to see who had the most muscular body, who used the biggest weapon
or Who had the sharpest knife?
In 1992, Arnold Schwarzenegger used time, patience,
and sheer ingenuity to pull off the coup, causing Stallone to accept the
worst role of his life. And it is that after reading the script, the
Austrian assumed that he was very bad, but decided to leak to the press that
he was really determined to participate in the film. That increased the
interest of the Rocky actor, who ended up accepting the role and making a
production that failed at the box office and has been the subject of
multiple parodies. "A worm could have written a better script," he said as
early as 2012.
In 1993 they decided to create Planet Hollywood
together, a chain of coffee shops that even had a presence in Madrid.
However, when their relationship has been better it has been in recent
years, with up to four films together since they appeared in Los Mercenarios
in 2010, and in which they have created a close friendship. Even
Schwarzenneger has visited Stallone's house for Christmas, as we have seen
through his Instagram. In addition, more recently, the actor who played the
Terminator had to undergo a dangerous operation in March of this year. The
TMZ portal asked Stallone about the fact, and he conveyed good feelings and
the desire for a better recovery from his rival for more than two decades.
