Salma Hayek cries when remembering how it felt to wear the superhero costume in Eternals
The Mexican actress is proud of her roots and also of having such an
important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With tears in her eyes Salma Hayek has confessed the joy
of representing the Latino community in Hollywood with her participation in
Eternals. This is the new film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 55-year-old artist, who now wears the costume of Ajax, a
leader of this celestial group and immortal heroes, confessed that she cried
trying it on before recording one of the first scenes. She explains that she
saw her skin in front of the mirror and felt that she had had the courage to
fight for great things, and thought of her as a child, as well as of all
little Latin Americans, as well as children, who dream of also being
superheroes.
"I saw the faces of all the girls, and I realized that a door
had opened where I did not enter alone, but inside that suit we went all the
Latinos who have fought so much this moment," she added.
But
this film, which is being quite inclusive, because it also features a gay
couple in the film, allowed Salma to star in a film in which she did not
have much faith when she was called. She, along with Angelina Jolie, are the
main actresses, enhancing feminine power.
"The truth is, I thought I was going to come out of a 'human'
and small role and the truth felt like it was clear," he explained, saying
that he thought he was going to come out of 'nana' or something similar to
attract Mexicans and Latin Americans to the movies. "She didn't trust the
Marvel guys," she confessed.
