And sources insisted the purchase could complicate his custody agreement with Garner. "She's going to have a hard time competing with a palatial mansion," a source revealed. "The kids are old enough that Jen wants them to make their own decisions, not indulge in luxury."
But we hasten to criticize this insulting story. This magazine didn't really know what was going on in the Garner-Affleck household, so it was wrong to speculate about her children. Plus, Garner has her own multimillion-dollar mansion that she shares with her children, so it seemed strange to us that Affleck's house created tension. From what we could see, the exes got along well.

Then the national investigator reported that it was actually Affleck's lavish lifestyle that bothered Garner. "The amount of cash that she flies out of her account doesn't match what comes in... Jen still feels the need to take care of Ben like she did when they were married."
Of course, this story was absolutely full of holes. While lavish gifts and vacations certainly don't come cheap, we seriously doubted Affleck's $150 million net worth was breaking a sweat. Also, it was a bit sexist to suggest that Affleck was the only one paying for things. With Lopez's estimated $400 million net worth, we're sure she's not shy about footing the bill from time to time.
Ultimately, Lifestyle reported that Garner was simply upset at the beginning of Affleck's big purchase. Garner apparently wanted her children to live a more grounded lifestyle, and Affleck's new taste for luxury was sending the "wrong message" to his children. "They had a heated argument and Jen basically told him that $50 million is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on property, even by Hollywood standards," the whistleblower whispered. "She feels that J.Lo is making Ben greedy."
But again, we just didn't think this outlet knew Garner's personal feelings about anything, especially when it comes to her children. The actress is known for keeping the paparazzi out of her family life, so this story just doesn't add up. Plus, we had to remind readers once again that Garner isn't exactly living cheap.
