More than 20 years have passed since the release of the esteemed and iconic film. Titanics. Released on December 19, 1997 and directed by James Cameron, its success is evident in its 11 Oscars, equivalent to the numerous victories of Ben-Hur and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Earning more than $2 billion in total, Titanic remains one of the highest-grossing movies.
Aside from that, the movie Titanic also became a huge factor in skyrocketing the fame of her lead roles. Leonardo DiCaprio, who played Jack Dawson in the movie, gained a lot of recognition after his starring role in Titanic. He went on to act in numerous mega-hits such as Inception, The Aviator, Catch Me If You Can, The Revenant, and Shutter Island while receiving many award nominations and wins for his outstanding performance.
Meanwhile, Kate Winslet, who competed with acclaimed actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Claire Danes for the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater, garnered numerous Academy Awards and nominations for her performance in Titanic and other films, such as The Reader. In another interview, Kate Winslet further explains that the n*de scene of hers still bothers her. In some cases, fans request Winslet to sign the drawing in the n*de scene, and during these times, Winslet consistently refuses.
I don't sign that. She feels very
uncomfortable… Why would you do that? People ask me a lot to sign that. I'm
like, no! I didn't want it to be a photograph that she would still end up
seeing 17 years later.
