Natalie Portman confesses that she suffered "sexual terrorism" after her role in Leon at the age of 13

The actress has been vocal about her acting debut, when she felt "s*xualized" for being a victim of "s*xual terrorism" at just 13 years old.

Natalie Portman made her comments during the annual Women's March protest, speaking of her experiences after appearing in her first film El professional de ella (Leon) in 1994.

During her speech, Portman confessed how her first letter from a fan of hers described "a rape fantasy"; that a radio program published a numerical account to know "when it would be legal to sleep with her" and how critics and the press wrote about her "breasts".

"I was so excited at 13 when the movie was going to be released and my work and my art was going to have a human response," she Portman said. “Very excited I opened the first letter from a fan to read a sexual fantasy of a rape written by a man towards me. A countdown began on a radio show the year of my 18th birthday, euphemistically the date it would be legal to sleep with me. Movie critics talked about my breast growth in her comments.”

“At 13 years old, the message of our culture was very clear to me,” she continued. “I needed to cover my body and put my expression and my work in order to send a message to the world: That I am a person worthy of safety and respect. The response to my expressions from small comments about my body to more threatening statements served me to control my behavior in an environment of sexual terrorism”.
