Kate McKinnon explained her decision to leave “Saturday Night Live” after a
decade of starring on the show.
McKinnon revealed that the
decision wasn't easy and she took "a long time" during an interview last
week on "Live with Kelly and Ryan."
"I thought about it for a
long time and it was very, very difficult," the comedian said.
"All
I ever wanted to do in my whole life was to be on 'Saturday Night Live.' So
I did it, I loved it, I had the best decade and then I thought my body was
tired and I felt like it was time."
Kate McKinnon revealed why he left "SNL" after a decade of
starring on the show.
The “Ghostbusters” star also revealed
how he plans to spend his future Saturday nights.
“I don't know
what I'll do. I don't know if I can watch the show yet because it's too emo
because I miss everyone so much," McKinnon said during the interview.
"It's my family. It's too emotional. So I think I'm going to
record 'The Bachelorette' and watch it."
McKinnon joined
the cast of “SNL” in 2012 and holds the record for the longest-tenured
female sketch variety show cast member.
She earned nine Emmy nominations for her work on the show, her
most recent being this year. Most recently, she was nominated for Supporting
Actress in a Comedy Series for the upcoming Emmy Awards.
The
awards ceremony will be broadcast in September.
