Jake Gyllenhaal has opened up about using "the pillow technique" to obscure
his genitalia during racy love scenes with Jennifer Aniston.
The
40-year-old actor also admitted that filming the love making scenes with the
Friends star, 52, had been "torture" for him.
He confessed to having a major crush on Jennifer that had lasted
years - making filming those awkward moments even more nerve-wracking.
During
a chat with Howard Stern, Jake had been discussing his upcoming movie The
Guilty when the host brought up the raunchy moments from the 2002 film, The
Good Girl.
Recalling the moment where he and The Morning Show star got
steamy, Jake told Howard: "Oh yeah, it was torture. Yeah, it was. But it was
also not torture, I mean, come on. It was a mix of both."
Digging
deeper, Howard asked Jake if he had to provide Jennifer with any warnings
when it came to "protrusion".
Laughing, Jake deflected by adding:
"Weirdly, love scenes are awkward because there are maybe 30, 50 people
watching it.
"Maybe if you have a closed set, it's less. That doesn't turn
me on. Most of the time, it's oddly mechanical, right?
"Also,
it’s a dance. You're choreographing for a camera… It's one of those things —
it's like a fight scene, you've got to choreograph those things, and I
always have tried."
However, the actor went on to explain that it
had actually been Jen's idea to use the famous "pillow technique" to prevent
moments of awkwardness.
Jake went on: "I do remember a pillow. Yeah, the pillow
technique was used.
"That was just preemptive, and used —
generally, always — when actually in a horizontal place in that movie.
"Everything
else is whatever it was. I remember those two characters did a lot of making
out on like, boxes in the back room.
"I think that was actually a Jennifer suggestion. I think she
was actually very kind to suggest it before we began… She was like, 'I'm
putting a pillow here.' That was it, that was all she said."
In
the comedy-drama The Good Girl, Jennifer enters into an affair with her
retail co-worker (Jake) behind her husband's back.
