She's widely regarded as one of the top performers in the world.
And Miley Cyrus definitely brought her A-game on Friday, when
she went up against Jimmy Fallon in a Lip Sync Battle on the Tonight
Show.
The 24-year-old Wrecking Ball songstress started the
evening dressed in a black t-shirt and black sparkly trouser combination.
But
it was Jimmy who opted to go first in the competition.
'The
inspiration for my first song is Darci Lynn Farmer the young ventriloquist
who just won America’s Got Talent,' he stated, before being joined by two
puppets.
He took a position next to them to lip sync the song Issues by
Julia Michaels.
As he manipulated one of the puppets doing most
of the singing, he proceeded to drink a glass of water, in a take off of
what ventriloquists do to 'prove' they are not speaking.
After
finishing, Jimmy appears quite smug, which elicited a 'you haven't seen my
competitive side,' from Miley.
The former Disney star then took
over the microphone for a rousing rendition of Feel It Still by Portugal.
The Man.
She then dazzled the crowd with acrobatics including
several splits, which seemed to annoy the late night host.
Jimmy's last song was Violet, by the band Hole, which saw the
former SNLer don drippy black mascara for alt rock band song.
For her final act, Miley brought out props that included a
gigantically oversized tan overcoat and eyeglasses to sing along to Once In
A Lifetime by the Talking Heads.
Apparently her performance was
so convincing that Jimmy immediately declared her the winner when she
finished.
Later in the show, instead of having Miley sing a tune
as usual, Jimmy decided to share a clip of the pop star joining Billy Joel
on stage at Madison Square Garden the week before.
The unlikely duo belted out a version of the fan favorite song
New York State Of Mind.
For that appearance, Miley opted for
wide-leg gold pants and a black graphic tee.
