Scarlett Johansson has told Radio 1's breakfast show host Grimmy, that she
found the new role she plays in the movie, Lucy, "challenging".
The
29-year-old said it was "an intense experience" shooting the film, because
there "were no guidelines" for the character.
Lucy is about a
woman whose brain becomes exceptionally powerful after becoming a drugs mule
for her new boyfriend.
Morgan Freeman is also in the movie.
"It was an
intense experience shooting it. We shot part of the film in Taipei [Taiwan],
which was very exciting.
"Even making it everyday, sort of, you
know, brought on its own unique challenges because the character was losing
the sense of her own humanity as she's gaining all of these superhuman
abilities.
"So there was kind of no guidelines for that. I never
knew what I was going to be stepping into each day. The whole shoot had a
level of surrealism to it, I suppose."
Lucy is directed by Luc
Besson and Scarlett said she was given "guidelines" by him on how to play
the character.
"Based on his gatherings, you know, he had this certain, kind
of, idea of what the levels of progress would be you know percentage
wise.
"It was challenging to give the performance, to paint some
colour in, you know, and not just have the character's journey be a very
kind of monotonous, vengeful one.
"It was sort of an abstract
experience. I don't know, I enjoyed it."
Scarlett, who is rumoured to be expecting her fist child, has
just finished filming Avengers 2 in the UK.
Grimmy also played
her his remix of the Selfie song, after getting her to voice some of the
lyrics.
The actress says she will be playing "a victim" soon in
her next movie, rather than a "badass" character.
