Britney Spears is under criminal investigation for allegedly slapping a
phone out of her housekeeper’s hand, who reported the incident to law
enforcement.
According to multiple reports, the ‘Toxic’ singer
apparently got into an altercation with one of her longtime housekeepers
during an argument over the pop star’s dogs. On Monday, deputies from the
Ventura County Sheriffs Department were alerted to an incident at Britney’s
home, where a disagreement had unfolded over the care and treatment of one
of Britney’s dogs.
The employed claims she had taken one of Britney’s dogs to the vet,
saying there were issues with the treatment of the animal. At that point,
the housekeeper claims she was confronted by Britney after she returned from
the veterinary clinic and an argument ensued about the dog’s wellness.
Britney Spears Accused Of Slapping Phone Out Of Housekeeper’s
Hands
That’s when the employee claims Britney SLAPPED her phone
out of her hands.
At the time, the housekeeper called the police
department to the pop star’s home but eventually went to the Sheriff’s
Department to file a police report. According to one report, deputies
attempted to get in touch with Britney to get her side of the story, but she
refused to speak with them. It should be noted, this is normal business in
the celebrity world — most good criminal defense attorneys will advise their
clients not to talk to the police following an incident. Remember, anything
you say can be used against you in a court of law!
As for Britney, she denies there was ever a physical
altercation — and the Sheriff’s have already told her camp this case will go
nowhere. In other words, they believe there will be no criminal charges. Of
course, the VCSD is currently investigating the case and will submit the
file to the District Attorney’s Office. Unfortunately, the decision could be
made to charge the pop star with misdemeanor battery.
Britney’s Team
Claims The Allegations Are ‘Fabricated’
It should be noted, in most cases, it is hard for prosecutors
to file charges of battery when the incident wasn’t in front of an officer.
Plus, there would most likely need to be proof of the physical altercation
like an injury or a mark. It’s unclear in this case if the housekeeper had
any marks from the alleged phone slapping.
As you know, Britney is currently fighting to remove her father
from her conservatorship case — which he has agreed to do. The problem is,
the pop star is preparing to argue that she doesn’t need a conservatorship
and can conduct her day-to-day activities without oversight from a team of
people. Obviously, the recent incident could make it a harder argument —
considering the original argument was about the treatment of her animals,
and an allegation of physical violence against an employee.
Britney
Spears has yet to formally respond to the allegations.
