The Twilight actress - who dated her co-star for around four years - said
her new role Equals was healing after the break-up
Actress
Kristen Stewart said the end of her relationship with Robert Pattinson was
"incredibly painful".
The couple - who starred together in the
Twilight franchise - split in April 2013 just six months after the final
film Breaking Dawn Part Two was released.
The couple were rumoured to be engaged and had lives together
in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, but the relationship never really recovered after
Stewart's affair with director Rupert Sanders in 2012.
Discussing the very public breakdown of their romance, Kristen
told the Daily Beast: “It was incredibly painful,”
She admitted
filming new movie Equals alongside Nicholas Hoult had been a huge help to
getting over the split.
"It was a really good time for both of us to make this movie.
Not all of my friends have been through what I’ve been through, or what some
people have tasted at a relatively-speaking young age, and we were not
expected to do anything. Everything that we did was explorative, and a
meditation on what we already knew," she explained.
