The 23-year-old Australian actress plays Leonardo DiCaprio's on-screen wife in Martin Scorsese's new film, based on the true story of notorious stockbroker Jordan Belfort. Margot's role involves several s*x scenes, including one where she stands n*ked on screen wearing only stockings and a pair of high heels.
The former Neighbours star told Jimmy Kimmel Live: "I just flat-out
lied to my family for a really long time and I said, 'I don't care what you
hear; there's no n*dity; I'm not doing any n*dity. Ignore anything anyone's
saying; there's no n*dity.'
"And then I thought, 'The movie's going to come out and they're going
to see that there's n*dity,' so I changed that to 'It's actually a body
double and they just CGI'd my head onto someone else.' And my family doesn't
have anything to do with the entertainment industry... and they were like,
'They can do that? And I was like, 'Oh, technology these days. You wouldn't
believe what they do in Hollywood!'
"And then eventually I came clean: 'I'm doing n*dity, but you
should read the book first, and if you still want to see the movie after
reading the book ...' "
Margot's character Naomi has a strong
Brooklyn accent which the About Time star revealed she achieved by
pretending she'd just had a manicure.
She explained: "My acting
coach said, 'Pretend that you've got acrylic nails on and they've just been
painted so they're still wet,' and I was like, 'OK, cool, so how do I do the
accent?' And she was like, 'Just do it!'
