Britney Spears has confirmed she is fine after fans worried about her
well-being when she deleted Instagram last week.
On January 24, the
41-year-old singer was shocked when police came to her home after “a few
pranks” from concerned fans led to a social security check at her property.
It came shortly after the Toxic hitmaker changed her name to River
Red on the platform and began her Instagram blackout.
The singer
took to Twitter to say she felt “gaslit” and “bullied” by the incident, while
the Baby One More Time hitmaker pleaded with fans to stop invading her
privacy.
Now the star has spoken out again in a long string of
tweets, accompanied by a compilation video of her strikingly different poses
at a gym.
“Yes, it’s me… I’m alive and well,” the pop icon wrote.
“I shut down my Instagram because too many people said I looked
like a dancing idiot and I looked crazy. Honestly, I did my best, but it
bothered me when people openly talked about it on TV… yes, it hurt me.”
The star said she was “sensitive” while joking that she would rather
take a break from social media and go on her “ice cream diet”.
Britney
also referred to the police returning to her home, saying the people who sent
her were not her “real” fans.
The singer also shared an anecdote about how some “loud” drunk
girls who were addicted to alcohol approached her at a restaurant and “walked
right in.” [her] face’ and she said ‘please go away [her]’.
“I woke
up and talked to myself…can you believe it???” she said. “Honestly, I couldn’t
do it either… so please know again that I’m doing my best…”
She ended the thread with some reassuring words: “I’m alive, I’m
fine, I’m healthy and I’m ready to start a new day – a new morning!!! To my
true fans, God bless you ‘ [sic].
The statement comes almost two
weeks after the star was spotted at a restaurant in LA, with reports claiming
she suffered a “breakdown”.
The mother-of-two addressed the incident with a cartoon image of a little girl pouring syrup on pancakes, alongside the caption claiming she was “a bit drunk”.
Britney went to dinner with husband Sam Asghari, 28, when fans
wanted to take pictures with her.
Sam reportedly left the
restaurant after Britney responded to the curious fans by “screaming” and
“babbling”.
The Circus singer then tried to explain the episode on social media in an
angry post comparing herself to Shrek at the restaurant and suggesting she was
under surveillance again.
Britney’s controversial conservatorship,
where her father controlled her personal and financial affairs for 13 years,
ends in 2022.
Seven months later, Britney and Sam tied the knot, and as
speculation has been addressed, the actor is “controlling” his wife.
When
TMZ asked about it, Sam replied, “I can’t even control what we eat.”
“A
lot has happened in the past, so I understand where [some fans are] Start
from. They only protect. At least they are good fans.”
