Prince Harry is facing “collapse” as the Duke has “deluded himself into thinking he’s happy”, according to royal biographer Tom Bower.
Harry, 38, is heading to London next week for a trip to the High Court where he will take on Mirror Group Newspapers over allegations of phone hacking.
The Duke will miss the opportunity to use the trip as a means to meet his father, King Charles, as the monarch is preparing to embark on a trip to Romania.
Harry is expected to be making the trip on his own, without the support of his wife, Meghan Markle.
Dan Wootton says the lack of support “feels very weird”.
Speaking to royal biographer Tom Bower, he asked whether this is reflective of an individual who is “deeply unhappy”.
Bower said in response: “I have a feeling that he has actually deluded himself that he is happy and the collapse is yet to come.
“It could be really awful for him next week, but the trouble
is, if it’s bad for him, it’s bad for the Royal Family too.
“It
doesn’t reflect well on his father or any of the rest, that is the tragedy
of all of this.”
Harry, who moved to California with Meghan
Markle in 2020, made a fleeting return for his father’s Coronation earlier
in the month.
The Duke opted to make a swift return to the US
after the Westminster Abbey ceremony.
He also made a surprise
trip to the UK in late march for a separate phone hacking legal challenge
against the Daily Mail.
Bower says he expects Harry’s upcoming UK
trip to be a fruitless affair for the Duke.
“He is really walking
into a minefield”, he told GB News.
“He is going to do himself
enormous damage, but he is so conceited about his importance as a
white-charge against the media.
“It is about time this whole
circus comes to an end.”
The 38-year-old is set to give evidence
at the trial, and he is among a host of high-profile figures alleging
unlawful information gathering by Mirror Group Newspapers.
MGN is
contesting the claims, arguing some have been brought too late.
