Meghan Markle has been urged by the Montecito Fire Chief to take down her
PR banners placed near her home, citing safety hazards and concerns that they
obscure local warning signs about the risks of wildfires.
The fire chief expressed worry that the banners, featuring photos of Meghan
Markle and Prince Harry with the slogans "Montecito Strong" and "Hearts and
Homes Together," could mislead people regarding the dangers of wildfires.
Moreover, he emphasized that the banners were not authorized by the city of
Montecito.
As of now, Meghan Markle has not publicly responded to the fire chief's order,
but her representatives assure that she is willing to cooperate with the fire
department to resolve the issue.
The community's reaction to the removal order has been mixed, with some expressing anger at the potential safety risks posed by the banners, while others are more understanding, suggesting that Meghan Markle might not have been fully aware of the potential dangers they could cause.
The banners were initially erected by Meghan Markle's PR team in December 2022
and were positioned close to the site of the 2020 Montecito fire, which
resulted in the destruction of over 1,000 homes.
The fire chief has set a deadline of January 15, 2023, for the banners' removal. He has also made it clear that further action will be taken if they are not taken down in a timely manner.
