King Charles III and US President Joe Biden to meet first time after Coronation

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Joe Biden is due to meet King Charles at Windsor Castle on Monday, July 10th, 2023.

President Joe Biden will be meeting with King Charles at Windsor Castle next week, first time after the royal ascended to the throne.

Biden will make the long-expected visit after he could not attend the Coronation ceremony of the monarch in May.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Biden is due to meet King Charles at Windsor Castle on Monday, July 10th, 2023.

Moreover, the White House issued a statement detailing the trip, “President Biden will first travel to London, United Kingdom for engagements with King Charles III and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to further strengthen the close relationship between our nations.”

It further read, “The President will then travel to Vilnius, Lithuania from July 11- 12 to attend the 74th NATO Summit. On July 13, President Biden will visit Helsinki, Finland for a U.S.-Nordic Leaders Summit.”

While Biden himself could not be in attendance at the historic royal ceremony, his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, and his granddaughter went instead.

Previously, Biden, 80, met with the late Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in June 2021, months after taking office.

He and First Lady Dr Jill Biden travelled into Windsor from the Group of Seven (G-7) Summit that year, and Biden was the 13th and final American president the Queen met during her historic reign.

Then, Biden last visited London for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.
