Margot Robbie Unveils Why Barbie Dolls Never Captivated Her Playtime

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Margot Robbie opened up about her childhood in Australia, shedding light on why she never found interest in playing with Barbie dolls.

Unlike many kids, Margot had no personal recollections of owning Barbie dolls. "I didn't personally have any that I can recall," shared the 29-year-old Don't Worry Darling actress.

Although her sister and cousin had Barbie dolls, Margot's inclination towards them was quite low. "I would play with my cousin's, but I wasn't actually that much of a Barbie girl as a kid," she admitted.

Instead of indulging in Barbie's world, Margot embraced a more adventurous side during her childhood. "I was more of a roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal," she fondly recalled.

When it came to dolls, Margot's collection was rather unique and unconventional. "They were all weird," she stated, explaining that they were not well cared for, contributing to their janky appearance.

Intriguingly, Margot disclosed that she used to play with dolls despite her lack of interest in Barbie. However, her choice of dolls was far from ordinary, adding to the enigma of her childhood playtime.

Reflecting on her role in the movie, Barbie, Margot found inspiration in the idea of self-acceptance. "The idea that I am enough. Barbie can be anything and everything, but even if you're just making it through life, you're crushing it. I found that very therapeutic," she expressed.

As the release date of Barbie approaches, fans anticipate witnessing Margot Robbie bring her own uniqueness and charisma to the character, making it a memorable cinematic experience. Barbie is set to hit theaters on July 21, promising a journey of self-discovery and empowerment for audiences worldwide.
