In an interview with Out Magazine, Howard disclosed that the passionate embrace between Owen and Claire "arose organically" and "was not planned." Initially, she and Pratt had filmed the scene according to the script, devoid of any kiss. However, during the final day of shooting, an alternate version of the scene was captured, this time featuring the unexpected kiss.
To the astonishment of Howard, as soon as director Colin Trevorrow yelled "cut" on the take with the impromptu display of affection, resounding applause erupted from the "800 background artists" present on set.
Revealing another layer of this surprising turn of events, both Pratt and Trevorrow, in a featurette included on the Jurassic World Blu-ray release, shared that while the kiss was unscripted, it was not a spur-of-the-moment decision.
