Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Departure Disappointed Queen Elizabeth

The late Queen Elizabeth II was deeply disappointed when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their senior royal roles in 2020. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward revealed that the Queen had hoped her grandson and his wife would play a significant role in making the monarchy more relevant to the younger generation, alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Queen believed that Prince Harry and Meghan had universal appeal. Seward noted that they both connected with the public in a warm and engaging manner, and their presence was seen as a perfect complement to William and Kate's polished professionalism while maintaining a sense of humor.

The late monarch had high hopes that this foursome would lead the monarchy into the future by sharing the demanding and sometimes dull royal duties and supporting their father as the future king once she was no longer around.

However, as Seward explained, things took a downturn as "the woes of the world and their lives took over."

On the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's passing, Prince Harry paid tribute to his grandmother during his speech at the WellChild awards. The next day, he was seen alone when paying his respects at the King George VI Memorial Chapel, located within St. George's Chapel in Windsor. In contrast, the rest of the Royal Family stood united during this time. Meghan, on the other hand, remained in Montecito, California, with their two children.
