Prince Harry is approaching a challenging month in September, as his
birthday month carries a significant emotional weight for the Duke of Sussex.
This month is marked by a series of unforgettable, life-altering events,
including the tragic loss of his beloved mother, Princess Diana.
Speaking to OK!, royal expert Jennie Bond explained that Prince Harry's 39th
birthday celebrations would likely be bittersweet, as he has to relive the
memories of both Princess Diana's and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's
deaths during this time.
"September is a difficult time for Harry. He lost his mother as the month
began, and he lost his grandmother just a week before his birthday last year,"
she noted.
While Prince Harry has continued his mother's charitable work in her memory,
the weight of her passing becomes even more profound as he surpasses her in
age. Princess Diana tragically died in a car accident in 1997 at the age of
36, and as he approaches his forties, Prince Harry will likely have personal
reflections about reaching a milestone his late mother never could.
"So his thoughts and celebrations will always be tempered by those two
events," Bond added.
She further emphasized, "Harry carries his mother’s memory in his heart. He
has made it crystal clear in his interviews, his documentary series, and his
book that Diana is always in his thoughts and that her death has had the most
profound effect on his life, his mental health, and his well-being."
"Now, as he approaches a decade (his forties) that she never reached, she will
be ever present in his mind."
Bond concluded, "I’m sure he will have some very personal thoughts for her on
his birthday."
