One of the first hints at the budding relationship between Prince Harry
and American actress Meghan Markle was a simple blue-beaded bracelet. It
resembled the one Prince Harry himself had been wearing for over 20 years.
Pictures of their wrists went viral as rumors swirled, and people eagerly
compared the two bracelets. Yet, in every photo, there was another bracelet
beside the blue beads—a silver one that holds a deeply moving but tragic
narrative.
Despite the initial lack of attention it received, Prince Harry greatly values
this silver bracelet. He frequently wears it on formal occasions, during
significant school photographs, major polo matches, and even on the most
momentous day of his life—his wedding day.
According to Business Insider, it is believed that Harry acquired the bracelet
during a trip to Africa in 1997, shortly after the heartbreaking loss of his
mother, Princess Diana. In a past interview, Prince Harry shared, "I first
came [to Africa] in 1997, straight after my mum died. My dad told my brother
and me to pack our bags—we were going to Africa to get away from it all."
Since that time, Harry has developed a deep connection with the continent, frequently visiting for both personal and official royal engagements. While Prince William also possesses a similar bracelet, he seldom showcases it in photographs.
