Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves under the critical
lens due to allegations of orchestrating a high-profile public relations
maneuver.
Their actions back in September 2021 during a charity event have since
garnered significant scrutiny, casting a shadow over their image.
Reports suggest that the PR team representing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex
may have approached an underprivileged primary school in New York with an
unusual request—a request that some have found controversial.
Emails that recently came to light indicate that students and faculty at the
Harlem elementary school were asked to sign consent forms for potential
filming activities. These forms not only governed their participation in the
project but also included clauses discouraging any negative comments or
discussions about the celebrity couple who graced their premises.
The couple's actions have drawn widespread criticism, with some labeling their
efforts as an attempt to silence their critics.
In a commentary piece for News.com.au, royal commentator Daniela Elser did not
mince words, characterizing the couple as "high-maintenance and demanding" for
their seemingly blatant pursuit of positive publicity.
Elser pointed out that while the royal family has a history of using endearing
moments with children, the elderly, and charitable endeavors for promotional
purposes, there appears to be a clear distinction in their approach.
She noted, "There is a world of difference between meticulously planned events
and fretting over the color coordination of playgroup mats, and requesting
parents to refrain from posting negative comments on social media, as far as
has ever been reported."
