Will Smith 'Devastated' by the Revelation in Jada Pinkett's 'Stunning' Memoir

Will Smith 'Devastated' by the Revelation in Jada Pinkett's 'Stunning' Memoir

In a poignant twist of fate, Will Smith found himself in a state of profound disbelief after delving into his estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith's enthralling memoir, aptly titled 'Worthy.' The superstar actor candidly admitted that he was wholly unprepared for the narrative that unfolded before him.

This heartfelt revelation came in the form of a letter composed by Smith, a letter that found its voice through the eloquent Jay Shetty during his On Purpose podcast, where Jada herself graced the stage as the guest of honor.

The tale takes a poignant turn as we reflect upon the recent controversy that enveloped Smith, stemming from an incident at the 2022 Academy Awards when he infamously slapped comedian Chris Rock. Yet, even in the midst of that storm, Smith was unprepared for the tempestuous emotions stirred by his wife's memoir.

In his heartfelt letter, he confided, "I've just turned the final page of 'Worthy.' It's nothing short of remarkable to realize that, despite having shared the majority of my life by your side, I found myself genuinely shocked, stunned, and utterly taken aback by the revelations within the pages of your book. It was a rollercoaster of emotions – I laughed, I was inspired, and I was heartbroken. My emotions were in tumultuous disarray."

"Listening to anecdotes at a family barbecue is one thing, but encountering your story in such a potent and concise form was profoundly overwhelming," the Academy Award-winning actor continued.

Will Smith, who joined his life with Jada's in wedded bliss back in 1997, went on to describe Jada as a unique combination of 'power and delicate sensitivity,' a true 'one of one.' He expressed his admiration, stating, "I realize it couldn't have been an easy journey to unearth those depths in such a revealing way, and for that, I applaud and honor you."

In a retrospective tone, Smith contemplated how different things might have been if he had encountered this book three decades ago. He confessed, "If I had read this book 30 years ago, I most definitely would have hugged you more."

With warmth and a hint of humor, he concluded his letter with, "I'll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club. I love you endlessly. Now, go get some Merlot and take a well-deserved rest."

In response to Will's heartfelt words, Jada chuckled and quipped, "He knows I can't have any Merlot! That's lovely. That's why I can't part ways with that joker."

She further shared her sentiments on his words, saying, "To hear him say that he would have hugged me more is like hearing him say he would have taken a bit more time to listen and understand."
