Jennifer Connelly Opens Up About Her Private Marriage to Paul Bettany

Known for her confident on-screen presence, Jennifer Connelly disclosed her more reserved side in real life. The 44-year-old actress admitted to occasional shyness, contrasting with her outgoing husband, 43-year-old actor Paul Bettany, in a feature for Town & Country's June/July issue.

Discussing her 12-year marriage with Bettany, Connelly stated, "I'm more reserved. I can be kind of shy in a group. I mean, I manage it pretty well, but he's much more outgoing than I am." The couple, who met during the filming of A Beautiful Mind in 2001 and married in 2003, has experienced a blend of personal and professional collaboration. Bettany wrote, directed, and produced the film Shelter, with Connelly in the lead role.

Reflecting on working with his wife on the 2014 drama, Bettany humorously remarked, "Working with Jennifer as a director is like getting in a gravel shower. It's f------ painful, but you come out so clean at the end of it. You can't help yielding to it because she is also putting herself through the wringer."
