Irving speculates, "He [Charles] wants to bask in the limelight for a few years, ensuring that William and Harry navigate the challenging transitional phase for the monarchy. Then, Camilla can retire to Balmoral, leaving the spotlight to William and Princess Kate. "
"I suspect that's the course of events. It might not be a swift changing of the guard, but circumstances may force their hand in the end," Irving added.
The King has purportedly directed his advisors and longstanding aides to ready William and Kate for their impending significant roles.
