Critics are lambasting the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, for what they perceive as a lack of self-awareness in her response to the soaring popularity of the Netflix show 'Suits.'
During the Variety Power of Woman event in Los Angeles, Markle was questioned about the unprecedented success of the series. In response, she admitted to having "no idea" about the reason behind its popularity.
GB News host Emily Carver criticized the former actress for avoiding the obvious connection, asserting that Markle's rise to fame was intricately linked to her marriage to Prince Harry. Carver commented, "A cynic might say that she has made use of the Royal Family and now wants to continue with her original ambitions."
Carver further emphasized the importance of self-awareness, suggesting that acknowledging the influence of her royal status on her success would be more endearing. She remarked, "Someone with a bit of a sense of humour would be able to laugh at themselves and say, ‘it’s probably got something to do with the fact I married a Prince’."
Addressing Markle's affirmation of producing impactful content, Carver criticized her statement as "vacuous" and humorously added, "We need Meghan Markle to make us feel something."
The controversy revolves around perceptions that Markle used her association with the Royal Family to propel her career and is now downplaying its impact on her success.
