Recent reports suggest that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had their invitation revoked for an event hosted at Buckingham Palace. The couple will not be in attendance at a state reception dedicated to honoring Queen Elizabeth over the upcoming weekend.
Scheduled for Sunday, the event, hosted by Charles and Camilla, aims to welcome heads of state and international guests traveling to partake in the queen's funeral the following day. People magazine discloses that initially, the Sussexes received an invitation to the reception.
However, a change in plans has led the palace to assert that the gathering is exclusively for "working members of the royal family," with an estimated 2,000 attendees expected.
Despite their exclusion from the reception, Meghan and Harry are slated to join other British royals for a standing vigil around Queen Elizabeth's coffin in Westminster Hall this evening.
During the vigil, Harry is anticipated to don his military uniform "at the King's request." Traditionally reserved for working royals holding military rank, this exception for Harry, who served two tours in Afghanistan during his decade in the British Army, was reportedly made by Charles without Harry's consultation. According to People, Harry "was prepared to wear whatever was asked" as his primary focus remains on honoring his grandmother.
