Netflix's portrayal of a father-son moment in the latest season of The
Crown appears to contradict Prince Harry's claims about his relationship with
his father, King Charles. In his memoir, "Spare," Prince Harry detailed a
strained relationship with King Charles III, alleging that he did not receive a
hug from his father after the tragic death of Princess Diana.
However, in the corresponding scene in The Crown, the portrayal seems to
disregard Prince Harry's claims of him. Royal expert Angela Levin noted the
difference in the show, stating that Prince Harry would likely be "furious"
with the depicted version.
Levin highlighted the scene in which King Charles, played by Dominic West, informs his sons about their mother's death. She pointed out that the show portrays a more caring and comforting interaction between father and son, contrary to what Prince Harry described in his memoir of him.
The depiction of events in The Crown often sparks discussions about the blurred lines between historical drama and real-life events, especially when it comes to portraying the personal lives of members of the royal family.
