Devotees of the monarchy, along with others who hold affection for its members, are urging for the suspension of book sales, denouncing it as an attempt to tarnish the reputation of The Firm.
In addition to royal fans, some historians, commentators, and TV presenters have criticized the author, accusing him of potentially deepening the divide between the Sussexes and the royal family amid speculations about their reconciliations.
However, a minority contends that the biographer has reinforced the narrative of the Sussexes.
Tensions escalated when it was revealed that a Dutch translation of "Endgame" reportedly names the individual who made controversial comments about Prince Archie's skin color.
A page extracted from a review copy of the book sent to Dutch journalists appeared to disclose the identity of the royal figure behind the remarks.
The Dutch journalist who identified the passage posted on his X (formerly Twitter) profile: “The NL (Netherlands) version of 'Endgame' must be withdrawn from sale, says the Dutch publisher at the request of the US agent."
"There's been heated debate over several passages, which may not have been accurately presented," the journalist added.
He continued, "As far as I know, this pertains only to the Dutch version, not the English one. It appears that only the Dutch version has revealed the name of the person who commented on the skin color of the unborn child. XXX (name redacted)."
Reportedly, Xander Publishers confirmed receiving a last-minute request from the US to suspend sales of the book.
