Critics have called out the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their
unconventional approach to their public roles.
Despite their efforts, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem unable to shake off the challenges from their complicated history with the royal family. Accusations abound that the couple repeatedly brings up their issues with them.
According to Camilla Tominey, editor at The Telegraph, the Duke and Duchess of
Sussex's attempt to address the 'no contact' situation with Buckingham Palace
regarding an invitation to King Charles' birthday has cast them in a
regressive light.
In her analysis, Tominey pointed out that a friend of the couple suggested
that reports of the couple 'snubbing' the monarch's invitation were likely
leaked as a means to divert public attention from the scrutiny King Charles
faced for his visit to Kenya, sparking discussions about potential financial
reparations.
Tominey's perspective brings to the fore the couple's consistent pattern of bringing up royal family matters for their benefit, despite their declared intention to lead a life separate from the Firm.
"Was the 'progressive new role' the Sussexes envisioned for themselves when they announced Megxit truly realized? Some may argue that their focus appears to be more on the past than on the future."
