The solitary demeanor of Prince Harry during Queen Elizabeth's final moments has been brought to light.
Despite their well-known close relationship, a startling revelation in a new book claims that Prince Harry was kept uninformed about the Queen's condition in her last hours.
Author Omid Scobie offers an exclusive insight into Harry's journey to Queen Elizabeth's deathbed last year in an excerpt from "Endgame," set to release on November 28.
During their numerous visits to the United Kingdom in September 2022, Prince Harry, 39, and his wife Meghan, 42, the Duchess of Sussex, were unaware of the palace's preparations for the Queen's final hours and the early days of the monarchy's new era, when the ninety-six-year-old queen was present. The palace had announced that her doctors had advised her to take it easy.
The revelation came the following morning when the duke's phone rang. The Sussexes were oblivious to Buckingham Palace's arrangements until then. Harry, not usually into such matters, hesitated to answer until Meghan encouraged him, saying, "You should answer it."
That year, Harry hadn't been in frequent contact with his father, but given the circumstances, this was not the time for any friction between father and son.
Charles informed him that Princess Anne was already at the Queen's side in Balmoral, where he and Camilla were preparing to depart from Dumfries House.
Charles instructed Harry to head straight to Scotland. Having just spoken to William, who was allegedly coordinating the travel arrangements, Charles texted his brother to inquire about the possibility of traveling together and to learn about how William and Kate intended to get to Scotland. However, he received only silence.
Left in the dark with no communication from other family members or Palace aides, the Sussexes and their entourage were unaware of William's already booked flight with his uncles Andrew and Edward (along with Edward's wife, Sophie), according to Harry. A source close to the Sussexes remarked, "It was distressing to witness. [Harry] was entirely on his own in this."
