Prince Harry and Meghan Markle find themselves increasingly isolated as Prince William and Princess Kate maintain and even expand their popularity, according to reports.
Despite the efforts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to diminish the image of the Royal Family, Prince William and Kate Middleton continue to gain favor, particularly in the United States. Prince Charles, in particular, has seen a surge in popularity since his visit to New York City in September, while Kate remains beloved across the U.S.
The former royals' attempts to justify their decision to step back from the Royal Family in 2020, including their high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey and the Netflix docu-series, "Harry & Meghan," seemed to have backfired. Prince Harry's release of a tell-all memoir earlier this year added fuel to the ongoing public discourse.
Royal editor Sarah Hewson of Talk TV explained, "It could have very much gone the other way for Kate and William, and I think they were very concerned about how the American public might respond to these revelations. But it looks from the polling that they are siding with Kate and William."
As a result, Harry and Meghan may be experiencing frustration and a sense of isolation. The public response seems to be favoring the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, leaving the Sussexes potentially angered by the unfolding dynamics.
