In his revealing autobiography, "Spare," published on January 10, 2023, Prince Harry shared insights into his relationship with Prince William, shedding light on the older brother's frustration regarding discussions about Princess Diana's tragic death in August 1997.
The Duke of Sussex disclosed that, despite occasional efforts by William to broach the subject, Harry was "capable" of avoiding conversations about their mother. He admitted to dismissing such discussions with a nonchalant shrug.
Reflecting on the years following Diana's passing, Harry wrote, "I still hadn't processed the bare facts, still hadn't cried, except that one time at her grave."
During their shared moments at Club H, a basement in their father's home, Highgrove, where they would gather with friends after visiting Diana's grave, William attempted to discuss their mother. However, Harry acknowledged deflecting the topic.
"He'd get frustrated," Harry wrote.
"And I wouldn't acknowledge his frustration. More likely, I couldn't even recognize it. Being so obtuse, and so emotionally unavailable, wasn't a choice I made. I simply wasn't capable. I wasn't close to ready."
Princess Diana's untimely death occurred in 1997 at the age of 36, resulting from severe injuries sustained in a car accident at the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris.
