Prince William, Prince Harry, and other members of the royal family are
reportedly inclined to skip the upcoming season of "The Crown," given its focus
on the final days of Princess Diana. The Netflix show's sixth and final series
is set to portray the events leading up to Diana's tragic death in 1997.
The series will touch on the circumstances surrounding the untimely demise of
Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, in a car crash in Paris, with
their driver, Henri Paul, also losing his life while attempting to escape the
paparazzi. Despite this, the actual crash won't be depicted on screen.
The upcoming season may be a sensitive subject for Prince Harry, who was just
12 years old when he experienced the loss of his mother. In the aftermath of
the fatal accident, Harry underwent considerable emotional pain.
"I don't think Harry will watch the new series. The reason he won't watch it is because it is not a reflection of what he went through. He has spoken about how upsetting that period was for him," commented Mayah Riaz, a PR expert, to The Mirror.
Critics and some royal fans have voiced their concerns about the series, questioning the appropriateness of recreating such a tragic event for entertainment purposes. One critic asked, "Is it appropriate to showcase someone's tragic end for entertainment?" The ethical implications of portraying real-life events for entertainment have stirred debate among viewers of the show.
