Renowned British author, socialite, and television personality, Lady Colin Campbell, has vehemently criticized royal biographer Omid Scobie for what she perceives as an attempt to "drive a wedge" between King Charles and Prince William.
In Scobie's recent provocative release, "Endgame," he levels accusations of a "small scale rivalry" between King Charles and his eldest son, William. However, Lady Colin Campbell, in an interview with GB News, dismissed the notion as "ridiculous," asserting that the King and Prince of Wales share a "very close, good working relationship and personal relationship."
Taking a sharp jab at the author, Lady Colin contended, "They didn't always have such a good personal relationship, but they certainly do now. Recent activities show they divide up the issues, with William handling A to M and the King taking charge of N to Z. Thus, these are fabrications; an attempt to portray issues where none exist."
She further corrected the royal biographer by emphasizing the popularity of the father-son duo and their amicable relationship, stating, "Let's remember Scobie has said Charles is unpopular, the monarchy is unpopular. Over 60 percent of the people in this country support the monarchy. Is that unpopular? I mean, the whole thing is ludicrous."
Lady Colin then rebuked Scobie for claiming to have royal sources within the Palace, apart from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, asserting, "Anyone believing that Scobie has conversed with individuals close to William and Catherine is utterly misguided because nobody close to them, or the King and Queen, would engage with Scobie."
When questioned about her beliefs regarding Meghan and Harry's involvement in the claims of "Endgame," Campbell suggested, "It will be advantageous to them in keeping them relevant. In fact, the Sussexes have contributed to it." She concluded with a tease, "I know who they've done it through, and I'm not prepared to share it. I'm saving it for myself."
Scobie contends that the royal father and son hold "clashing approaches and opinions" on the monarchy's governance. He adds that the heir to the throne has grown disillusioned with the King's "squandering" and views him as a "transitional monarch."
These revelations surfaced following Prince William expressing his ambition to "go a step further" in his royal endeavors and "bring change" during the Earthshot Prize Awards in Singapore, stating, "I care about so many things, and previously the family have been very much spotlighting brilliantly - I want to go a step further, I want to actually bring change."
