Peter Morgan, the renowned architect behind the beloved Netflix series
"The Crown," delivered a shocking revelation when he declared that he hasn't
laid eyes on a single word within Prince Harry's chart-topping memoir, "Prince
Harry." While some might find this stance perplexing, Morgan provided a resolute
explanation for his decision.
Morgan expounded on his stance, as conveyed by People, revealing that he
consciously abstained from perusing the book in an effort to preserve the
intricate mental tapestry he has painstakingly woven around the British
monarchy. "I have not delved into a single word of it," he affirmed,
expressing concerns that the Duke of Sussex's narrative could potentially
influence the sanctity of his creative process.
"It's not a matter of disinterest, but rather a conscious choice to prevent
his voice from unduly permeating my creative faculties. I hold a deep sense of
empathy for him, a profound understanding, yet I have consciously refrained
from delving into the pages of his book."
Despite Prince Harry's presence in the final season of "The Crown," Morgan
emphasized that the portrayal primarily revolves around his elder sibling,
Prince William. This artistic approach seamlessly aligns with the series'
overarching focus on the central lineage of heirs to the British throne, which
encompasses the reigns of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles, and now, Prince
William. Consequently, Prince Harry's involvement assumes a more peripheral
role.
Prince Harry himself appears unruffled by this artistic interpretation,
categorizing the show as a work of fiction, a viewpoint shared by his spouse,
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. During a previous interview with James
Corden in 2021, Prince Harry acknowledged that while "The Crown" doesn't
mirror reality entirely, it offers a rough glimpse into the royal way of life
and the intricate balancing act between duty, service, and family.
In an interesting turn of events, Prince Harry openly admitted that he finds
more solace within the world of "The Crown" than amidst specific news reports
about his own family. He took aim at select media outlets for presenting their
narratives as unassailable truths, contrasting them with the distinctly
fictional nature of the series. He candidly asserted, "This is evidently a
work of fiction. Interpret it as you may, but it is being paraded as
irrefutable fact in the guise of news."
