Princess Kate joined Prince William, along with the King and Queen, at
Buckingham Palace for the annual Diplomatic Reception. Despite facing
allegations, Kate Middleton projected strength as she practices stepping into
the role of Queen Consort amidst unfolding changes within the royal family.
During the Diplomatic Corps Reception, held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday,
Kate wore her Royal Family Order. This order, a yellow sash featuring a
portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in her younger years, is typically awarded to
female members of the royal family for state banquets.
However, the ribbon was notably shorter during this reception, prompting
speculation about forthcoming changes.
According to a source quoted by Hello! Magazine, "The King will issue his own
Royal Family Order in the future, which will replace the one worn by Queen
Camilla and Princess Kate." The shortened ribbon is viewed as a signal of the
impending change, suggesting adjustments within the royal protocol. Observers
anticipate seeing them wearing the King's portrait in a similar event next
year.
At the reception, Catherine, Princess of Wales, re-wore a pink embellished
Jenny Packham gown and accessorized with Princess Diana’s favorite headpiece,
the Lover’s Knot Tiara. She has donned this tiara multiple times since the
Diplomatic Reception in 2015, including various state banquets over the years.
Kate's appearance follows her engagements proceeding 'business as usual' after
being implicated as one of the 'racist royals' expressing concerns about
Prince Archie’s skin color. Earlier in the day, during a visit to a children’s
hospital, Prince William’s wife opted for a more businesslike look, debuting a
new royal blue Alexander McQueen blazer. These shifts in attire and
accessories hint at evolving dynamics and potential changes within the royal
family.
