Kate Middleton reportedly made a last-minute gesture of kindness to Meghan
Markle during the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service, which marked the Duke and
Duchess of Sussex's final engagement as senior members of the royal family.
According to royal author Tom Bower's book "Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War
between the Windsors," tensions escalated behind the scenes when the Sussexes
were not allowed to join the main VIP party with Queen Elizabeth II and other
senior royals.
In response, William and Kate attempted to defuse the situation by offering to
join Harry and Meghan as they waited for the arrival of the Queen and King
Charles III.
Bower's account suggests that a significant argument had occurred after Palace officials changed the plan and publicly humiliated Harry and Meghan by preventing them from walking in the family's procession through Westminster Abbey. Eventually, William and Kate agreed to wait with Harry and Meghan to resolve the dispute.
