King Charles Faces Backlash Over Unconventional Christmas Guest List

King Charles has stirred controversy within the Palace by expanding the guest list for this year's Royal Christmas, set to be hosted at Sandringham later this month. The 75-year-old monarch's decision to include Queen Camilla's extended family alongside the usual royal members has left royal staff "disgruntled."

According to royal author Ephraim Hardcastle writing for the Daily Mail, the staff has been instructed to yield their rooms to accommodate the additional guests, causing discontent within the palace walls. This decision follows King Charles' notable exclusion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the Christmas guest list, despite reports suggesting the couple's desire to join the Royal Family for the holiday.

The snub has prompted suggestions that the King extend an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, even in light of his reported resentment towards them, particularly after the release of Omid Scobie's book, "Endgame."

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, speaking to GB News, remarked, "The King will do what he can to carry on that tradition as it has been what he’s used to while growing up. If [Harry and Meghan] aren’t invited, it doesn’t look good on Charles. But if they decide not to go, that’s on them."

Harrold highlighted the significance of the decision, stating, "But it would be a bad thing either way. It’s a big statement to make." The unfolding dynamics surrounding the Christmas guest list add an intriguing layer to the ongoing relationships within the Royal Family.
