Meghan Markle finds herself the target of biting satire on the popular
live show Saturday Night Live (SNL), where a skit lampooned the Christmas card
photo released by Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of
Sussex have become frequent subjects for TV comedy as their endeavors continue
to draw attention, often inviting mockery.
During the SNL skit, cast member Colin Jost humorously highlighted a peculiar
detail in the royal Christmas card, playfully incorporating Meghan Markle into
the jest. The card, featuring Prince William and Kate with their children,
sparked reactions, with Jost quipping, "A Christmas photo released by the
Royal Family features a bad photoshop job where Prince Louis' finger appears
to be missing, and, this is sweet, Meghan Markle said she has a finger they
can use if they need it."
This episode marks another instance in a series of comedic jabs directed at
Meghan and Prince Harry. Recently, the animated series Family Guy joined in,
portraying cartoon versions of the Duke and Duchess lounging by the pool as a
butler delivers an envelope with the comment, "Sir, your millions from Netflix
for… no one knows what."
This jest follows industry criticism of the couple's deals in Hollywood, including remarks from Bill Simmons, head of Spotify’s global sports content, after the Sussexes' multimillion-dollar deal with the audio platform concluded. South Park also previously satirized the couple in an episode titled "The Worldwide Privacy Tour," where Harry and Meghan were humorously depicted navigating the challenges of seeking privacy while embracing public attention on a global scale.
