Upon their arrival, Prince William and David Cameron were greeted by officials, and the Prince engaged in a meeting with Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the new leader of Kuwait and the half-brother of the late Sheikh Nawaf.
Sheikh Nawaf had assumed the role of emir in 2020 following the passing of his half-brother Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. While Sheikh Nawaf had recently faced a medical emergency, he was declared to be in stable condition. Prince William, in the midst of his Christmas break with his family, had to pivot quickly to fulfill this unexpected royal duty, highlighting the unpredictable nature of royal responsibilities.
