Princess Charlotte Potentially to Become the New Princess Royal, According to Royal Editor

Princess Charlotte, the only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, could potentially follow in the footsteps of Princess Anne and assume the title of Princess Royal, as suggested by Daily Mail's Royal Editor, Rebecca English. Speaking on the talk show Palace Confidential on Mail+, English noted the resemblance between Charlotte and a "little mini-me" of King Charles's sister, Princess Anne.

Expressing her thoughts on the matter, English said, "Charlotte could be a new Princess Royal, that would be great. I've always said, I really see Charlotte as like a little mini-me Princess Anne. I love the way that she's in charge of her brothers and I love the slight eye-rolling whenever they do something naughty. I just think she's got a great streak of Princess Anne in her."

Royal contributor Victoria Murphy also chimed in, stating, "I think that's what she will be, Princess Royal. I think there's definitely echoes of the Charles and Anne dynamic in the George and Charlotte dynamic."

The decision to confer the title of Princess Royal typically rests with the reigning monarch. In this case, when Prince William ascends to the throne, he will have the authority to decide if and when Charlotte receives the title. However, it's worth noting that she cannot be granted the title until after the death of Princess Anne, who currently holds the designation. Princess Anne was designated as Princess Royal in 1987 at the age of 36.
