According to a source from In Touch, the Princess of Wales felt 'humiliated' after being implicated as one of the senior royal members expressing concerns about the skin color of Meghan and Prince Harry's son, Prince Archie.
Despite the difficulty, and prompted by King Charles' insistence, Kate made the call to the Duchess of Sussex to address their differences that had spanned nearly four years.
"Their talk was four years in the making, and obviously, it wasn't easy because who knows what could end up being leaked from their private conversations?" the insider noted.
"But Kate has apologized to Meghan before, and she knew what to say. Her kind words had an impact, and they both got pretty emotional."
The feud between Meghan and Kate dates back to before the former's wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan revealed that the future Queen made her cry over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress just days before her wedding.
Prince Harry further elaborated on his wife's claims in his book, Spare, shedding light on several instances that highlighted the contrasting personalities of the sisters-in-law.
The insider revealed that, despite their differences, the pair has agreed to a 'reluctant truce' for the sake of their husbands.
"They'll never truly see eye-to-eye, and nothing will change how Meghan feels about the way she has been treated by Kate and the rest of the royals," they shared. "But Meghan is estranged from her own father, so she knows how tough it's been on Harry to feel abandoned by his family."
The insider added, "She's vowed to do what she can to help. Both she and Kate want to start over."
