Sulzberger mentioned that if the memoir had been released a year earlier, the production might have used it as a source. However, she emphasized the careful approach the research team takes when accepting first-person accounts as historical facts.
While Prince Harry's book offered interesting details, Sulzberger stated, “It was very interesting to read and to be able to get his insider understanding of his experiences within the family at a time, but it didn’t affect us enormously in the end.”
The Crown had already completed filming for its sixth and final season when Prince Harry's memoir was released. The last episodes covered significant events, including the tragic death of Princess Diana, her relationship with Dodi Al Fayed, William and Harry's teenage years, and Prince Charles' construction of "Club H" for his sons at Highgrove.
Sulzberger mentioned, “We were done with quite a bit of it, so we didn’t go back and reshoot because Harry’s book came out.” However, some details from the memoir did impact the series, particularly in depicting the setup of "Club H" during the Highgrove party episodes.
