Scobie's latest work is predicted to sow the seeds of a "poisonous legacy of distrust" for Prince Harry, given its numerous sensational claims about the royal family.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, speaking to the Daily Star, highlighted the adverse reflection on the Duke of Sussex, emphasizing Scobie's role as an unofficial 'mouthpiece' for the couple.
Despite the Duke and Duchess distancing themselves from Scobie's assertions, the book is perceived as a de facto 'Sussex handbook,' leaving an enduring impact on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
"[Endgame] could easily be titled 'Seeking Sensation: A Sussex Squad Handbook,'" Fitzwilliams remarked, predicting that while the book might fade from public memory, its poisonous legacy of distrust would persist.
He further observed that the book's release coincided with a tentative hope for improved relations between the King and Harry, evident in their exchange on Charles's 75th birthday. However, the explosive nature of the claims makes it improbable for the royal to regain favor with his father.
"There's little chance of rebuilding mutual trust after this," Fitzwilliams added.
