With Prince William and Kate Middleton as the primary young senior working royals, and others nearing the age of 70, the absence of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew from active royal duties has further diminished the available members for engagements.
Amid Kate's recovery from abdominal surgery, supported by William, and Charles's prostate treatment, the pool of active royals has dwindled even further.
However, according to royal author Victoria Arbiter, the daughters of Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie, have shown no inclination to step into more prominent roles within the monarchy.
"While they are the only blood-born princesses of their generation, there has been no indication from Beatrice and Eugenie of a desire to assume additional responsibilities," Arbiter informed GB News.
Arbiter noted King Charles's determination to maintain a leaner, more cost-effective monarchy, but acknowledged the challenges associated with a reduced pool of senior working royals, a scenario that the monarch might later regret.
Nevertheless, the York princesses appear content to provide support to the royal family behind the scenes.
"Beatrice and Eugenie are content to offer support to the family from the sidelines," Arbiter stated. "Both prefer their current lifestyle without the added pressure of a full schedule of royal engagements."
Despite expectations and the ongoing discussion surrounding the royal family's future, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie seem content with their current roles within the monarchy.
