During an interview with GB News, royal commentator Mark Dolan expressed the view that, given King Charles's age and potentially diminishing energy, the Prince and Princess of Wales could assume a more active role in handling royal duties.
Referring to the couple's well-received tour to Boston the previous year, Dolan emphasized their effectiveness as ambassadors for the United Kingdom.
While acknowledging Charles's delayed ascent to the throne, Dolan stressed the significance of not diminishing the monarch's duties and responsibilities, recognizing that he assumed the throne at the age of 73, making him the oldest person to do so. Dolan remarked, "He’s got a much shorter runway and trajectory."
In light of the Monarch's perceived decrease in energy, the royal expert suggested that sharing some of the responsibilities with Prince William and Princess Kate could be a reasonable and beneficial approach.
